Canvas Triptychs are Very Popular
We have seen a renewed interest in the three panel triptych photo on canvas prints recently. This is where your photograph is split across three or more panels to produce a large wall display. Splitting your photograph across several panels is a great way to create a spectacular print that can fill a large wall space without dominating the area with a single large print. If you have a large image that you think will work well as a triptych we can take a look at it and make a recommendation back to you with our unique Digital Proofing process. Three panel canvas splits work well with large landscape or seascape vistas but can work equally well with other pictures. We hope that you will get creative and produce a unique work of art from your photographs onto a Triptych Giclee Print.
These multi panel splits date back to medieval times and were the preferred format for many artistic renderings in churches and cathedrals of the period. These were usually three different images that were created on panels to form an overall scene or have two images that would flank a central theme.
Today’s high resolution digital cameras produce such a good quality image that it is much easier to divide the image into panels to produce the triptych. So for the most part Triptych prints are one photograph split over three canvases. But, it doesn’t have to be three panels; it could be four or five panels or even more. They don’t have to be the same size either. Creativity is the key here to producing a design that fits the image and works for you. This Beach shot from Vilano Beach Florida is a perfect example and is available for purchase from Our Gallery.
Choosing the right image is important for the multi-panel prints. The Gallery Wrapped Canvas Splits work great with the image so that your eyes scan the photo and fill in the missing image in the space between the panels. With this in mind you can see why it would be important to choose an image where you would not be leaving details in the gap with no visual reference from the other portions of the image to allow your mind’s eye to fill in the missing portions. When we divide the image into the multi-panel splits we take care to ensure that no portion of the image is lost in the gap between the panels. When we crop the panels we allow for overlap on the sides of each panel with the Gallery Wrap edge so that when the piece is viewed from an angle the portion of the image on the side of the gallery wrap fills the gap.
Triptych Panel Splits can also be created in varying heights and sizes vertical or horizontal, stripes that form a mosaic look or any design that suits your imagination and the image. Your creativity and the right image can produce a dramatic work of art that is uniquely yours and holds a special meaning.
The Canvas Triptych Splits are very popular and are a great way to allow your creative imagination to produce a special work of art.
Get your photos on canvas is the perfect place to create your new masterpiece. We can review your image for quality vs size, see what cropping or other adjustment would be necessary to produce the triptych panels and provide you with a digital proof so that we can work with you to create the perfect Triptych Giclee Print.
Some prefer the large format single panel over the multi-panel or triptych prints. Others think the Triptychs are much more artistic and prefer them over the traditional single panel prints.

I really like the triptych panels and especially the one you have in your gallery with the sand dunes and the rustic fencing from St. Augustine Beach!
